| | | | Job Description | Responsible for producing high quality maps to meet defined cartographic standards
providing technical customer support to internal and external customers ensuring
adherence to departmental policies and procedures; perform mapping, editing, data
conversion, geocoding, and error reconciliation within established timelines; create and
maintain GIS data layers for applications and customers using GIS software and
associated databases; interface with users to develop and gather system or project
requirements ensuring they are transferred into design specifications and/or requirement
documents to obtain, enhance, and develop GIS (Geographic Information Systems)
software and specific applications; provide feedback to developers on GIS processes,
tools, and efficiency to aid improvement; prepare and distribute a variety of reports as
requested by supervisor; participate in the activities associated with a variety of
departmental projects including preparing reports, material, documentation, and
coordinating tasks
Applicant for this job will be expected to meet the following minimum qualifications.
An Associate's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work
in geography, Geographical Information Systems (GIS), computer science or a related
field is required. A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in
geography, GIS, computer science or a related field is preferred. Equivalent work
experience in a similar position may be substituted for educational requirements
Minimum two years experience using ERSI GIS software required.
Minimum one year in the 9-1-1, telecom or public safety environment preferred.
ArcView, ArcGIS, ArcInfo Workstation and MapInfo software required. Oracle Database Management
Systems, SDO, SQL, Visual Basic, Avenue, ArcObjects,
and AML preferred. Basic knowledge of MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, and
Access required.
