| | | | Job Description | Logan Simpson Design Inc. (LSD) is one of the largest landscape architecture and environmental planning firms in the Southwest. We offer a full spectrum of in-house planning, design, and permitting services - making us a "one-stop shop" able to take projects from initial planning studies through design and into construction. We have built our reputation on technical excellence; effective partnering; and our hands-on, cost effective, creative approaches to projects.
We are seeking an experienced GIS/Graphics Technician to work as part of our in-house Graphics/GIS team. This individual will be a key member and contribute to the team's overall effort to achieve efficient, profitable, timely, and technically superior performance to internal and external clients.
Minimum Education/Skills Requirements:
ˇ Bachelor Degree in Geography, Geographical Information Systems, Computer Science, or related cultural or environmental field.
ˇ Minimum 3 years experience or equivalent combination.
ˇ Demonstrates competent use and knowledge of GIS, CAD and mapping standards and practices, including map coordinate systems, scales, and units.
ˇ Demonstrates independence, maturity, and soundness of judgment in making accurate individual decisions, as necessary, related to the applicability of GIS, CAD and mapping standards/concepts and agency requirements to numerous project situations. Can respond to other professional staff requests for input and direction related to GIS products.
ˇ Would be able to learn and demonstrate the core values of the firm.
ˇ Able to prioritize individual tasks to successfully meet critical deadlines.
ˇ Must be able to perform quality control review on assigned projects and tasks.
ˇ Demonstrates competent use and knowledge in the following software programs: ESRI ArcGIS 9.3, Spatial Analyst, ArcCatalog, TerraSync and AutoCAD or Microstation
ˇ Possesses knowledge of and some experience using large printers, plotters, GPS units, and cameras.
ˇ Demonstrates good written and verbal communication skills.
ˇ Demonstrates potential ability to quickly learn and become familiar with the firm's word processing, spreadsheet, data management, and financial reporting systems.
