| | | | Job Description | POSITION:
Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Technician position (Research Associate I Special) available with the Center for Environmental Management of Military Lands, to be assigned at Fort Sill, Oklahoma. Position is contingent on the availability of funding for GIS efforts at Fort Sill.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Perform duties in support of the U.S. Army Sustainable Range Program (SRP) GIS Program under the supervision of the SRP GIS Coordinator. Function as part of the ITAM contractor team supporting land rehabilitation, training lands monitoring, soldier training, and range operations and planning. Understand and meet SRP geospatial data standards and requirements. Facilitate the development, sharing, and use of geospatial data across organizations. Produce high-quality map products with attention to detail using standardized cartography and map production guidelines. Create and update geospatial data in accordance with SRP guidance documents. Collect field data (GPS) and assist with data analyses. Provide GIS products and information for reports, presentations, and other products.
SALARY: Commensurate with experience and qualifications. Range $38,000-$42,000

| | | | | Job Requirements | MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
BS/BA degree in GIS, cartography, geography, environmental science, natural resources with GIS emphasis, closely related field, or GIS certification. One year of post-graduate work experience in GIS. Demonstrated knowledge of ESRI ArcGIS 9.x software. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Ability to work as part of a team in a structured organization. Ability to do field work on uneven terrain under extreme weather conditions. U.S. citizenship required. CSU conducts a background check on all final candidates.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS IN ONE OR MORE OF THE FOLLOWING CRITERIA:
Demonstrated knowledge of ESRI ArcGIS 9.x software, Knowledge of geodatabase structure, functions, management, and development. Experience with enterprise GIS. Solid local and network file management skills. Demonstrated experience working with GIS applications in natural resources management, cartography, and GPS hardware/software. Knowledge of and experience with Army/DoD GIS programs and spatial data standards (SDSFIE). Experience working in highly structured organizations such as governmental agencies, the military, and corporations. Experience driving 4WD vehicles and ATV’s on rough terrain. Excellent written and oral communication skills.
