The company serves nearly 20 million municipal, commercial, industrial, and residential customers through a network of 367 collection operations, 355 transfer stations, 273 active landfill disposal sites, 16 waste-to-energy plants, 134 recycling plants, and 111 beneficial-use landfill gas projects.
To enable our business to expand our lead in a market increasingly enhanced by technology, Waste Management, Inc. is undertaking a substantial technology transformation. We are seeking talented Information Technology Professionals to join the Waste Management corporate IT team and participate in this ongoing effort.
Waste Management is seeking an energetic, senior-level GIS Administrator who is motivated to help us transform the way technology is used. This position is responsible for combining technical expertise with business intelligence to enable GIS solutions in an effort to align information technology solutions with Waste Management business strategy.
This position requires a focused, high energy individual with a proven background in GIS and ESRI products.

Education and Experience
Required: Bachelor's Degree, or equivalent experience, in Computer Science, MIS, Business Administration or similar area of study and eight to ten years of previous experience.
Preferred: Master's Degree.
Other Knowledge, Skills or Abilities
Required:
8+ years as GIS Administrator used as part of a routing and logistics solution.
Strong experience in enterprise systems implementation using ESRI suite of products including ArcGIS Server 9.x, ArcIMS 9.x/4.x/3.x, ArcSDE 9.X, ArcView, ArcEditor and ArcInfo.
Strong spatial database design using Oracle / SQL Server and ArcSDE
Design and implementation of web mapping applications
Understanding and implementation experience of SOA (Service oriented Architecture)
Experience with Enterprise applications architecture and design
Must be flexible and willing to undertake a wide variety of challenging tasks.
Ability to present information, analysis, ideas, and positions in a clear and convincing manner to both technical and nontechnical audiences.
Ability to lead a group to consensus, solve problems, and accomplish tasks.
Ability to multi-task, meet deadlines, and anticipate needs along with ability to operate and promote an environment of teamwork.
Experience in the use of Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio).
Strong organization skills, ownership and accountability.
Ability to work in fast-paced environment.
Preferred:
Knowledge on other GIS platforms like MapInfo, Geoserver, etc.
Knowledge with Microsoft Bing Maps and Google Maps.
