| | | | Job Description | | RESPONSIBILITIES: Prepares geographic information systems application designs, modification and documentation including needs analysis, database and program designs. Develops and maintains relational database designs of data structures within a spatial database; maintains GIS and databases to ensure the system's integrity and to satisfy users' GIS needs. Identifies problems encountered with GIS/CAD systems and recommends or implements corrective action. Performs training on various GIS or CAD software applications. Develops and maintains standards for the common digital base map (planimetrics), map layers and/or GIS standards. Works closely with vendors and staff on GIS, automated mapping or facility mapping projects. Contacts organizations outside the City of Dayton to identify existing systems and data, which may be integrated to fit local needs. | | | | | Job Requirements | MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, geography, urban planning, cartography, civil engineering or closely related field and 2 years of experience in GIS programming or GIS database administration/support; OR associate's degree in computer science, information systems, engineering sciences or closely related field and 6 years of experience in GIS programming or GIS database administration/support. Must have experience installing, updating and using software packages such as ArcInfo, ArcView and Intergraph's GeoMedia in the use of GIS and related applications for utilities (gas, water, electric), environmental or public safety areas. Degree must be from a college or university that is accredited by the U.S. Department of Education through the North Central Association of Colleges and Universities or equivalent region. Must possess a valid driver's license at time of appointment. Must obtain and maintain a valid Ohio driver's license within 30 days of appointment.

General Employment Requirements
Final permanent appointment is contingent upon the applicant passing a job-related medical examination, including drug screen, if required, and providing documentary evidence of Employment Authorization and Identity.
