| | | | Job Description | Over 1 billion customers every year depend on MTA New York City Transit (NYCT), the nation's largest transit system, and we in turn, depend on a dedicated team of professionals to help us meet the needs of the organization. We currently have an opening for a Manager, Mapping.
Responsibilities: This position is responsible for the design and timely updating of NYCT’s printed and online map products. You will research and respond to map design and information issues; identify, research, recommend and adapt evolving map drawing and production technologies; adapt Transit’s map products to the agency website and provide modified products for third party publications; advise on or produce custom maps for major agency initiatives and proposals; and advise and assist on other product design, graphics technology procurements and related staff training for all graphics services in Marketing and Service Information. Interfacing with the Planning and Schedules departments, as well as with MTA HQ is required, as well as supervising press runs, etc. Annual output includes approx. 5 million printed pieces. | | | | | Job Requirements | A Baccalaureate degree in Graphics or map design or a related field and ten years of related experience, including 5 years in a supervisory/managerial capacity is required; OR a satisfactory equivalent combination of experience and education preferred.
Desired skills: Extensive specialized experience in computerized map design, as well as a strong design sense and ability, coupled with excellent understanding of transit information and communication methods/techniques; in-depth and up-to-date computer and internet technology knowledge; and substantial experience/knowledge of printing processes and print quality control desired.
