| | | | Job Description | This position is located with the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), National Geospatial Technical Operations Center (NGTOC) in Rolla, MO and Lakewood, CO.
The incumbent serves as a point of contact for geospatial data activities that provide capabilities to access, acquire, produce, archive, manage, and disseminate derived geospatial data and metadata in support of NGPO goals. Provides comprehensive advice on the use of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) in support of The National Map, and helps define and promote opportunities for additional applications.
Leads and coordinates GIS projects that entail the development of new applications, procedures, and techniques to produce technically advanced presentations using spatial data, text line maps, and images pertaining to the promotion and implementation of The National Map.
Analyzes the format of new data and determines the most efficient procedures/techniques required for integrating the data into what is needed for use on existing systems or to fit National Map or a cooperators requirements. Manipulates data for integration into production or for use in special projects.
