Job Description
Targeted and addressable advertising enables advertisers to deliver the right message, to the right target, at the right time. In its simplest form, it entails the delivery of a specific advertiser message to a finely tuned target demographic, an audience, a household, or as with direct mail, a person. Delivery of a targeted message is not limited to a specific medium, in fact, may involve a coordinated approach spanning a variety of mediums.




The Associate Director, Targeted and Addressable Media is responsible for successfully planning and managing multi-touch, multi-channel addressable campaigns – with the express purpose of maximizing the overall effectiveness and efficiency of our media investments.




We are looking for a candidate who is entrepreneurial, inventive and willing to help shape an important and growing area within the advertising and marketing industry. As the Associate Director, Targeted and Addressable Media you will reside and operate within the digital hub of the agency. You will be challenged to develop advanced approaches and techniques to scale the use and application of addressable media – spanning TV, PC, mobile, print (magazine/newspaper), and out-of-home.




This position requires an appreciation for the disruptive nature of technology and innovation – and the resulting seismic shift taking place within the advertising industry. Ideal candidates will offer a solid understanding of general advertising principles coupled with a reinforced understanding for how data driven practices may be applied to maximize advertiser effectiveness and efficiency as it relates to their media investments. Candidates offering experience in direct marketing, online targeting, retargeting methods, and/or other digital addressable media are preferred. Experience with database and mapping tools is highly desired. This role is best suited for a high achiever with proven ability to contribute individually as well as part of a results focused team.




Responsibilities:


o Work with planning and buying teams to capitalize on changing markets/ opportunities and develop and support the execution of high-impact targeted and addressable campaigns.


o Work with internal planning teams to ensure targeted and addressable opportunities are considered and synchronized with the business plans: strategy, goals and objectives.


o Identify, analyze, communicate key market trends, competitive use and strategic opps.


o Develop and support a process and workflow for target audience definition and modeling


o Prepare toolkits (presentations, best practices, case study work) to support addressable and targeted efforts.


o Develop and create insightful presentations and maps to convey targeting information.


o Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and ensure research plans/techniques capture key performance indicators (KPIs)


o Develop closed-loop processes to measure and assess ROI for targeted and addressable communications, campaigns and results.


o Establish goals for targeted and addressable media (increase use by ‘x’, or increase addressable budget by ‘y’)


o Support creative development process – creative needs and requirements


o Follow and track emerging trends and opportunities as it relates to targeted & addressable media–pertaining to TV, PC, mobile, print (newspaper/ magazine), and out-of-home.


o Observe syndicated/non-syndicated sources to identify trends w/ key companies and technologies


o Stay abreast of industry trends that could affect planning/buy negotiations


o Coordinate with Chicago and New York digital buying teams and maintain knowledge of negotiations & select rates/contracts with various media providers


o If needed, manage buy and allocation of key/select buys within buying system


o Resolve issues as necessary



 
Job Requirements
- Education: Four-year college degree, preferably in marketing/advertising or business related


· 5 years of advertising experience, or similar experience with addressable media


· Digital, Internet, and Direct Marketing a plus


· Skills/experience:


· Proficiency in Microsoft Office


· Advanced Excel, Access, and graphic design experience a BIG plus


· Mapping/GIS (Geographical Information Systems) experience


· Strong analytical thinking and mathematical skills


· Excellent communication and writing skills


· Ability to organize and manage detail work
