Role: GIS Web Developer Multiple Positions
Role Summary:
The function of the GIS Web Developer is the design, development, and implementation of Geographic Information System based software solutions. The role is responsible for development of web-based GIS solutions primarily in the Microsoft .NET development environment.
Candidates must be able to obtain a secret security clearance and proof of U.S. Citizenship is required.
Essential Functions:
Designing and developing customized web-GIS applications
Developing custom viewers, databases, and technical applications for specific client applications
Application design and development in a team environment
Developing application test plans
Assisting clients with on-site implementation and training
Competencies and Skills:
A passion for working with teammates and customers to solve problems
Excellent communication skills
Ability to multi-task, prioritize and meet deadlines
Experience with developing solutions in ArcGIS Server
Thorough knowledge of the following software packages and technologies: Microsoft .NET (VB and/or C#), Oracle, MS SQL Server
Knowledge of Internet architectures and technologies
Knowledge of geospatial concepts
Familiarity with standard software development protocols
Application documentation including system design and technical specifications
Development of custom GIS solutions
Dynamic, personable and self-motivated personality with the ability to work as part of a distributed team
Experience:
Required
Bachelors Degree in computer science or GIS-related field
3+ years experience as a software developer
2+ years experience developing web GIS applications
Experience developing with Oracle databases and PL/SQL
Ideal (in addition to required experience)
Experience developing in JS, Flex or OpenLayers
Graduate degree in a computer science or GIS-related field
5+ years as a software developer
4+ years experience developing web GIS applications
Work Environment:
Location: Birmingham AL; Alexandria, VA, Novi, MI; or work at home
Travel approximately 10% of the time. | | | |
