Senior GIS Health Director
Altarum Institute
 
Job Description
Altarum is looking for a Senior GIS Health Director to join our Health Financial Systems – Healthcare Finance group.

This individual will help to lead a growing team of GIS and healthcare analysts to provide GIS and mapmaking support for a variety of projects in the Military Health System and other healthcare clients. Projects include analysis of spatial variation in access to care, thematic mapping of variations in diagnoses and treatment, network analysis and other spatial issues, with managing Altarum’s Core Spatial data model.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

* Mapping
* Geospatial and transportation network analysis, and quality assurance
* GIS data creation, conversion and integration
* GIS programming
* Business development
* Manage staff

Requirements:

* Prefer PhD or Masters degree in Geography, Planning, Civil Engineering or any related field, with two or more years of relevant experience.
* 7 to 10 years of experience
* Experience working with ArcGIS 9.X
* Skills in map creation using cartographic techniques
* Knowledge of how to create and maintain databases using Microsoft Access or SQL Server.
* Knowledge of GIS task automation via programming in at least one of the following is a plus: Python, Visual Basic, Java, JavaScript, C++, or .Net
* Knowledge of health care industry and its use of GIS with an area of particular health focus such as medical geography, epidemiology, spatial modeling/statistics, or hospital systems.
* Knowledge of military and veterans’ health helpful, but not necessary.

The successful candidate will be highly organized, ability to multitask and work with deadlines; work independently or with others, and communicate in a professional and timely manner; strong analytical and problem-solving skills are highly desirable

(MUST BE A Sole U.S. Citizen to work with Military Health Data.)
