| | | | Job Description | The Environmental Management Participation Program for the U.S. Army Environmental Command (USAEC) provides opportunities to participate in USAEC on-going applied research and development projects, and environmental technology demonstration projects at Army installations worldwide. Project areas include Environmental Compliance and Planning, Cultural Resources, Natural Resources, Range Management, and Geographical Information Systems.
An appointment is available at Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland in the USAEC, TSD, Training Sustainment Branch.
This appointment includes, but is not limited to, the following:
- The participant will assist on a number of GIS projects that support military training under a diverse set of environmental conditions.
- Gain experience with federal geospatial standards, ESRI’s desktop GIS applications, geodatabase design, quality assurance and control.
- Coordinate data development, analysis, and ultimately utilize GIS as a communication tool to support the diverse requirements of military training.
- Complete Army Centralized GIS Data Collection and support SRP GIS Support.
- Prepare Encroachment Condition Module and Quality Assurance Plans.
| | | | | Job Requirements | Applicants should have received a bachelor's degree in Geography or Natural Resources or related discipline within three years of the desired starting date, or completion of all requirements for the degree should be expected on or about the starting date. Other applicants will be considered on a case-by-case basis. The program is open to all qualified U.S. citizens without regard to race, sex, religion, color, age, physical or mental disability, national origin, or status as a Vietnam era or disabled veteran.
The participants will be selected based on academic records, recommendations, applied research interests and compatibility of background with applied research programs and projects at Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland and/or the host Installation.
