| | | | Job Description | POSITION:
GIS Technician position (Research Associate I Special) available with the Center for Environmental Management of Military Lands, to be assigned to the U.S. Army Integrated Training Area Management (ITAM) staff, Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. Position contingent on the availability of funding for GIS efforts at Fort Leonard Wood.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Perform duties in support of the ITAM GIS program and Range and Training Lands Program. Function as part of the ITAM contractor team and support land rehabilitation and training lands monitoring programs. Produce high-quality map products with attention to detail using standardized map symbology, design specifications, and QA/QC guidelines. Create and update required GIS data layers according to SDSFIE standards and quality assurance plans, collect field data (GPS), and assist with remote sensing analyses. Conduct spatial and database analyses. Provide GIS products and information for reports, presentations, and other products.
SALARY: Commensurate with experience and qualifications. Range $36,000-$39,000.

| | | | | Job Requirements | MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
BS/BA degree in GIS, cartography, environmental science, geography or natural resources with Geographic Information Systems (GIS) emphasis, closely related field, or GIS certification. One year of post-graduate work experience in GIS. Must have or be able to obtain valid U.S. driver license. U.S. citizenship required. Appointment may be contingent on successful completion of a background check.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS IN ONE OR MORE OF THE FOLLOWING CRITERIA:
Demonstrated knowledge of ESRI ArcGIS 9.x software, Geodatabase development, and experience with Enterprise GIS. Demonstrated experience working with GIS applications in land management, Integrated Training Area Management (ITAM), natural resources management, digital cartography, and GPS. Knowledge of Army/DoD GIS programs and spatial data standards (SDSFIE). Experience working in highly structured organizations such as governmental agencies, the military, and corporations. Ability to do field work on uneven terrain under extreme weather conditions. Experience driving 4WD vehicle on rough roads. Excellent written and oral communication skills. | | |
