Job Description
Position Description:
Responsible for launching a new DigitalGlobe subsidiary in London for the Defense and Intelligence Business Unit. Responsibilities include developing and executing a distribution strategy to European Defense and Intelligence customers that includes direct and indirect sales channels and providing leadership and support to DigitalGlobe’s Master Distributors (Telespazio and Eurimage) who currently retain distribution rights in Europe. Emphasis will be on establishing sales strategies, defining sales goals, growing market share, supporting and sourcing sales activities, and developing an approach that maximizes sales through these channels for a variety of imagery products. Individual will work directly with DG senior management and the sales and marketing staff for the distributor to continually improve sales performance (both increasing revenue and market share) to ministries of defense, intelligence organizations, and defense mapping organizations. Position requires significant European travel.

Specific tasks:
- Open and manage a new DG subsidiary (small sales office) based in London with the goal of increasing sales and market share to European defense customers.
- As Director, European Defense Sales, manage the distribution agreements between DigitalGlobe and our distributors and resellers. Be knowledgeable of detailed information about the distribution agreements (rights, geographies, performance goals, terms and conditions, etc.). Work closely with SVP DIBU and Product Management to establish sales plans, marketing strategies, and revenue forecasts.
- Manage the sales and marketing activities of the current master distributor: Telespazio (Eurimage), and all other distributors throughout the European territory, to include DG Europe based in London.
- Staff and manage a small European sales team that conducts daily interaction with the Distributors and end users (primarily Ministries of Defense) – serve as their conduit into the company.
- Achieve the channel’s sales goals by providing leadership, staff, and resources required to be successful
- Provide support in securing sales and marketing materials from DG
- Help design and implement sales activities/channel development
- Solicit feedback on products that may be of interest to the Master Distributors and their customers – share that information with the Product Development team at DG
- Be responsive to the needs of the Master Distributors but challenge them to exceed their goals
- Pursue other distribution agreements that are consistent with the goals and objectives of our product distribution philosophy
- Assist with the development of the reseller distribution channel
- Develop and execute a Direct Sales strategy specifically focused on sales to Ministries of Defense in Europe
- Increase market share, mind share, and margin on products sold in territory
- Identify Direct Access Program pursuits where appropriate
- Coordinate effectively with the Commercial Business Unit to ensure no duplication of effort and no confusion from the marketplace


 
Job Requirements
Requirements:
- 10+ years GIS, remote sensing, and/or defense contractor experience selling or conducting business development into defense and intelligence customers in Europe
- Ability to travel frequently throughout Europe and occasionally to the US
