| Academic Projects | UTD | | | • GISC 6382 Applied Geographic Info Systems: Implemented a project to find Optimum Route between DART Railway stations and apartments in City of Richardson using Spatial Data and ArcGIS Network Analyst Tools. Route was selected to provide connectivity to most of the residents in Richardson city. Spatial Data for Dart Railway Stations and railway lines were obtained by georeferencing Richardson City As-Built with Road network Shape file. Geodatabase was created in Arc Catalog.
• GISC 6387 Workshop Project: Created Geodatabase for UTD Emergency Management by digitizing AutoCAD maps in ArcInfo9.2. Personal Geo-database was created in ArcCatalog. Implemented student population query tool for UTD campus by using Visual Basic.
• GISC 6384 Spatial Analysis and Modeling: Analyzing Peak Flow rate and Time of Concentration By using Empirical Formulae and Distribution Modeling at gauge point for Dallas County DEM and calculated how the Vulnerability of water varies with the depth and soil type.
• GISC 5317 Computer Programming for GIS Implemented a project to automate the process of Copying stand-alone feature classes from any geodatabase to the workspace creating a new personal geodatabase by using Python languages. Running the Check Geometry operation to check the geometry of those copied feature classes in the new geodatabase and giving the output table if any geometric problems found. The Problems are fixed by Repair Geometry operation. Creating geodatabase, copying feature classes there, checking and repairing geometry are four different processes done separately in ArcGIS environment. But in this automated process it will run all the processes one by one.
• GISC 7363 Internet Mapping: Developed website of Sri Lanka which shows the maps of damaged structures and areas due to Tsunami. HTML, ArcXML are used for Internet Mapping programming. Data base and Website is hosted on Arc SDE server. JavaScript is used to provide user authentification to access and control the Spatial data used to create the maps.
• MIS 6326 Database Management Systems: Designed and implemented Employee Information, Customer Information and Billing system for a telecommunication company. Created ERD diagrams with Visio 2000 Professional and Client server database environment is developed in MS Access
• MIS 6308 System Analysis and Design: Analyzed real life-business system of Murphy Homes group and Enhanced Murphy Homes Group Realtors system functionalities. Murphy Homes group has no Proper details of the house for a typical buyer. Existing System functionalities are showed in context Diagram and sequence diagrams. Proposed System functionalities showed by Process, Data Modeling and Object Modeling. System’s UML Models are created using Microsoft Visio. Boundary, Input, Output, Database Control and Communication Controls are applied to the System.
• GISC 6383 GIS Management and Implementation: Studied the architecture, design and implementation of Telecom GIS project for finding the location for new BTS and BSC and well as optimizing the existing BSC/BTS network and its resources. Presented paper proposing recommendation and enhancements this includes migrating the database to centrally located Geo Database and accessing through the internet.
• GEOS 5V08 GPS Satellite Surveying Techniques: Real Time Kinematics GPS Surveying, Mapping of Traffic Signs at UTD. The objective of this project was to use Real Time Kinematics method of GPS surveying to map the traffic signs at UTD to decimeter level accuracy. Final map was produced in ArcGIS and UTD’s map was overlaid.
