Attn: Hiring Staff
Dear Madam or Sir:
I am applying for a Junior-Level GIS Analyst
role and am willing to relocate anywhere for
the perfect
opportunity. My career focus involves
manipulating spatial data layers to be used in
3D visualization
environments. An example may include
extracting topographies of watersheds,
streams, or rivers
from bare-earth DSMs, aerial photos or
satellite images. These topographic surfaces
could then be
incorporated into flight simulators or onboard
navigation systems to be used by the Army or
Navy. I
have become adept in delineating impervious
structures, water bodies and transportation
right-of-
ways in both 2D and stereo vision. The
training I have acquired in Object-Based Image
Analysis
(OBIA) of Lidar data can assist land
management planners in finding optimal
locales to plan new
trees, so as to not be planted too close to
utility communication lines. My experience in
creating
land cover thematic maps will be beneficial to
natural resource specialists whom might be
concerned about identifying wetland losses or
low-lying areas prone to high flood risk. The
understanding I’ve acquired in Python scripting
will lead to time saved undertaking routine
mapping
operations pertaining to geometry modification,
road buffering or merging of database records.
I would be very interested in learning more
about how my skill set can be integrated into
the
company’s geospatial projects and services.
Thank you in advance for your consideration!
Sincerely,
Jeff Szkodzinski
