Field Researcher University of Colorado
May - June 2009 Copan, Guatemala
-Ambitious water resource implementation project for rural Guatemalan communities in which I directed fifteen undergraduate students throughout the project phases.
-Conducted field modeling reports using ArcPad and various GPS-based features with the Trimble NOMAD system.
-Created historical and present-day mapping patterns for water flow using ESRI ArcGIS 9.3.1 integration systems, including ArcCatalog, ArcMap, ArcPad, and ArcView.
-Used GIS applications to monitor water flow, stream discharge rates, and predict catchment efficiency during Guatemala's rainy season.
-Projects included: Alternative water development practices; Horticultural and Vegetation studies which include forestry and rural energy consumption modeling; water quality standards and testing techniques; and watershed/catchment management processes.
-All course material was compared to and identified with U.S. air and water quality legislation.
-Obtained National Science Foundation grant funding in order to pursue this project; able to manage and report grant funding over the course of project and within developmental stages.
