Professional Experience
GIS Specialist CECOS
04.2009-Current FL
1) Work on various customer facing transportation projects at one time for the public and private sector that require GIS methodology development, technical and non-technical report writing, research, and utilization of cartographic principles.
2) Conduct transportation wetland impact analysis and habitat delineation that involve field work, stereo image analysis, image processing (i.e. NDVI, unsupervised, and supervised classifications) along with georectification of design plans and conversion of CAD files for use in ArcGIS.
3)Above spatial analysis results are then turned into cartographically designed maps for synthesis in reports from technical memorandums to larger multi-tiered reports. Additionally the spatial analysis results have been implemented into maps that become posters at construction sites for legal use/warnings.
4) Acquire quotes and compare various remotely sensed images like GeoEye-1, Quickbird, and airborne images. Located the best software to process those images.
5) As the only GIS employee at the company detail is given to personal GIS quality control and database management (shapefiles and personal geodatabases).
6)Understand transportation permitting, policy, and project development procedures through hands on experience, manual reading, and report writing.
Teaching Assistant Florida Atlantic University
08.2008-12.2009 FL
Applications in GIS (Summer 2009),
Digital Image Analysis (Spring 2009),
Remote Sensing of the Environment (Summer 2009),

1) Improved and learned how to diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve new and old GIS/ERDAS problems via e-mail and face to face contact.
2) Taught students file management, database/file manipulation/querying, and locating data sources.
3) Issued a new lab in Word format every week that requires the students to get familiar procedures and methodologies in ESRI ArcGIS or ERDAS Imagine like GeoCoding, Network Analyst, Contrast Enhancement, Population Change, and other image processing and spatial analysis tools

World Geography (Fall 2008, Fall 2009)

1) The cause and effects in regards to the concept of food, land utilization, and ethnic interactions was stressed throughout the class discussions.
2) Investigated respective geographic regions weakness, strengths culture, physical landscape, demographics, migration patterns, history, and economy.
3) Integrated all the above to help students critically think and analyze the questions and situations respective regions and countries face.
GIS Technician FPLE/NextEra Energy
04.2008-09.2008 FL
1) Mapped different types of legal agreements in an ArcSDE environment to assist in the development of wind energy and was required to give time estimates of project completion.
2) Used the PLSS grid system, Texas grid system, various types of digital images, and georectified rasterized plat images to precisely and accurately map the acquired land.
3) Used a customized ArcGIS extension from Quorum to quickly map legal agreements.
Engineering Technician Bergmann Associates
02.2007-08.2007 FL
1) Collected data, by way of Trimble GPS Units using ArcPad, of 180+ miles of Florida Department of Transportation’s assets along the CSX rail corridor.
2) Analyzed and prepared data in ArcGIS 9.2 after collection process and troubleshot Trimble GPS units.

Other Information
Master’s Thesis: A methodology to assess the feasibility for Light Rail Transit in a medium to low density environment via GIS and Image Interpretation

The methodology started with a demographic spatial and cluster analysis using various tools from the spatial analyst extension of ArcGIS and SPSS. After this stage was done, large amounts of urban image interpretation and cultural understanding were used to quantify economic assets. A light rail transit system was then designed using preset parameters involving the aforementioned data. Once the system
was designed I tested it via the network analyst extension. The findings, methodology improvements, economic development strategies, maps, and suggestions were composed in word and presented via PowerPoint for my degree.

Additionally I have strong skills in image interpretation in both the Urban and Environmental aspect, as the former was a large part of my thesis and the latter in the professional realm. I had a one year crash course in teaching the theories of remote sensing like image capturing, band manipulation, flight acquisition parameters, spaceborne versus airborne capabilities, wavelength use, and ERDAS Imagine procedures. I also learned intensely about digital images by being a teaching assistant for that class. In that class I taught students the concepts and math behind histogram manipulation, filtering (i.e. edge detectors, smoothers, etc.), contrast enhancement, and image classification techniques (i.e. NDVI, supervised classifications, etc.). I also have had the unique experience of being a TA which has granted me a strength for writing clear and concise procedural steps via Microsoft Word and PowerPoint. These strengths combined with my field experiences, GIS knowledge and methodology development skills hopefully make me an ideal candidate.
