- Compilation, coordination and promotion of standardized place names including administrative units, regions, villages, camps,etc.
- Developing and maintaining geographic databases including satellite imagery and gazetters.
- Compilation of appropriated relavant baseline data and indicators.
- Provision of country base maps and atlases.
- Assist in developing information products to support scenario development, contingency planning and the identification of trends and humanitarian risks.

- Support the promotion of data and information sharing, as well as the adoption of global data standards and if appropriated, the establishment of country specific common data standards, using appropriate context specific mechanisms.
- Performing quality control(QC) on all GIS products generated and disseminated by MIMU, including data and maps.
- Represent the Recovery coordination center and MIMU in meetings regarding content specific to GIS and information Management.
- Some field travel.
- Support information management activities related to technical cooperation and technical assistance projects in disaster response and disaster response preparedness. |
