This was a short-term contract, which was fulfilled. | | GIS Specialist | SAIC | | 1999 - 2005 | St Louis MO | Contracting on-site at the National Imagery and Mapping Agency (NIMA), now known as National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA), installation as well as the new SAIC-St. Louis location, Mr. Walbom utilizes Raster scanned maps and charts (ADRG) into Compressed Arc Digitized Raster Graphics (CADRG). CADRG is a 55:1 compression of ADRG, which is compliant with Raster Product Format (RPF) and National Imagery Transmission Format (NITF) standards. CADRG is intended for use in a variety of systems requiring map backgrounds, coordinate selection, and perspective view generation. This includes, but is not limited to; mission planning systems, theater battle management systems, and intelligence systems. CADRG is intended to replace Compressed Aeronautical Chart (CAC), Compressed Raster Graphics (CRG) and Air Force's Common Mapping Standard (CMS), providing a common raster map set for DoD displays.
He had been involved with the Geological Vector mapping project utilizing Quality Control of the shapefiles. Along with this assignment Mr. Walbom worked on the conflation portion of the GeoDatabase components for two areas where he was the St. Louis Team Lead on one of them. Mr. Walbom was appointed as the ISO 9000 Internal Auditor under the direction of Drusilla Morgan in 2002, however is no longer in this position due to promotion to the CADRG Production Manager in June 2002, integrating new quality protocols. It is here where he is most valuable. He has maintained an external error rate for CADRG of .01%. He helped successfully migrate the CADRG production system from 7 stand alone SUN SPARC 20 workstations to 6 networked SUN Ultra 80 workstations with no production impact, no downtime and no loss of quality. He had: Identified problems within CMPS program and proposed solutions. Facilitated the development of a more cohesive team environment within the office. Brought enhanced problem solving techniques to the team. He provided technical support to customers concerned with CADRG. Served as a knowledge resource for CADRG for the office. Mr. Walbom performs daily and monthly totals and overall office skills as well as maintains the CD-ROM library. Mr. Walbom was a Beta tester for Georgia Tech’s FalconView. |
